Girl, 7, Calls Dad After Finding Mom Unresponsive From Heroin Overdose

ROCHESTER (KDKA) – A 7-year-old girl in Beaver County called her father after her mother overdosed on heroin last week.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. on Friday at a home in the 600-block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Rochester.

The little girl called her father when she found Kristina Somerville, 35, unresponsive on the kitchen floor.

"She is the one who found her mother on the floor unconscious, and she called her father," said Joseph Ricciardi, a neighbor who helped the girl and her mom. "I brought the little girl downstairs and sat out here. She's actually the hero. I think she was fantastic. I mean, at her age, I think she's only 7- or 8-years-old, she knew to call her father because there was something wrong."

The girl's father then drove to the house and also found David Luketich, 26, unresponsive in a bathroom.

When emergency officials arrived at the house, it was determined that the two had overdosed on heroin with the street name "Killing Time." They were treated at the scene and then transported to a local hospital.

"The mother owes her daughter her life," Ricciardi said.

Police found 13 full stamp bags of heroin and one empty stamp bag at the scene.

Luketich and Somerville are facing a list of charges including possession and endangering the welfare of a child.

Both are being held in the Beaver County Jail.

The owner of the building says he's left with no alternative but to evict those living there. However, he hopes the woman gets the help she needs and the little girl finds some place safe to live.
