Report: Free Agent Running Back Reggie Bush A Good Fit For Steelers

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Since cutting running back LeGarrette Blount, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been searching for a reliable running back to backup Pro Bowler Le'Veon Bell.

As CBS Sports NFL Writer Will Brinson points out, there's a free agent running back that he believes could make a lot of sense for the Steelers.

Former Detroit Lion Reggie Bush was cut by his old team last week and is now looking for a new home, and Brinson points out a number of reasons for why he believes Pittsburgh would be the ideal landing spot for the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2006 draft.

Brinson says he likes the idea of Bush as Bell's backup and adds that if Bell misses any times, presuming he means for a potential suspension stemming from this, that Bush would be a nice replacement.

Bush is coming off an injury-riddled season with the Lions that saw him lose out on carries to teammate Joique Bell.

Bush, though, is just two years removed from a 1,006-yard rushing season in 2013 where he carried the ball 223 times averaging 4.5 yards per carry and scoring four touchdowns. In the passing game though is where Bush is most dangerous, and in that same 2013 season he caught 54 passes for 506 yards and another three touchdowns.

Twice in his career Bush has rushed for over 1,000 yards and he can also help in the punt return game as he specialized in that role for the New Orleans Saints. Throughout his career, Bush has averaged 7.9 yards per punt return and has taken 4 kick back for touchdowns.
