Report: Dick LeBeau Set To Join Titans' Staff

PITTSBURGH (937-THE FAN/AP) -- Former Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau reportedly will be hired by the Tennessee Titans.

According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, LeBeau will have the title of assistant head coach and will be in charge of the defense.

The report says the Titans are expected to make it official later this week.

Ray Horton reportedly will remain the Titans' defensive coordinator. He worked under LeBeau with the Steelers.

The Titans' head coach is former Steelers' assistant Ken Whisenhunt.

LeBeau, 77, resigned from his position with the Steelers last month. According to Wyatt's report, Whisenhunt reached out to him shortly after.

LeBeau served as defensive coordinator for the Steelers from 1995-96 and from 2004-14. He was also the team's secondary coach from 1992-94. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

In his 13 years as defensive coordinator, the Steelers finished in the top five in total defense 11 times and five times the team had the top overall ranked defense. The team won seven division championships, four AFC championships and two Super Bowls, while making the playoffs nine times during that period.

On Tuesday, LeBeau was honored by Pittsburgh City Council, which proclaimed February as "Dick LeBeau Month."
