Registration Opens For "The Great Race" In September

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Registration opened Wednesday for the 39th annual "Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race."

The race, presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, is a 6.2 mile course stretching from Frick Park to downtown. The event will take place on Sunday, September 25.

Organizers say the race, which has been around since 1977, isn't about coming in first, it's about getting in on the action.

"Pittsburgh's Fall Fitness Classic is a non-competitive race that features a predominantly downhill course, making it attractive to both those attempting a first race as well as those striving to set a personal best," said Race Director Brian Katze.
