Red Cross Helping Families After Car Hits Hill District Home

HILL DISTRICT (KDKA)- Several people are being helped by the American Red Cross after a car slammed into their home Monday morning.

According to police, the crash happened around 3:45 a.m. in the 2800-block of Centre Avenue in the Hill District.

Police say the car skipped off of one home and then slammed into a house that had two apartments. The car left a hole in the house, which made it impossible for the people living on the second floor to use the stairs. Firefighters had to rescue the family on the second floor with a ladder truck.

Two people inside the car were taken to the hospital for treatment. Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

The American Red Cross is helping out the people inside the house.

They are not being allowed back inside until city building inspectors can review the damage and see if any structural damage was done to the home.
