SWISSVALE (KDKA) -- A young man is in the hospital after he was shot while out with his grandmother in Rankin on Tuesday evening.
According to Allegheny County Police, the shooting happened in the area of N. Holland and Corey Avenues.
The 19-year-old victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound just before 8:30 p.m. in a car parked at the Park and Ride in Swissvale.
Police say the man was conscious and alert at the scene, and is listed in good condition at a local hospital.
The victim was in the car with his grandmother. She was not hurt. Sources tell KDKA-TV that the woman is the widow of the late-Rankin Police Chief Nekodie Mudd.
Mudd died last year at the age of 79. He was Rankin's top cop for more than 20 years.
Lorraine Mudd appeared shaken, but otherwise she was unhurt after her grandson was wounded.
