Penn State: Sexual Assault Reported At Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (KDKA) -- A student was allegedly sexually assaulted by four Penn State fraternity brothers.

On Tuesday, PSU sent out a warning of reported sexual misconduct through the school's Timely Warnings.

Timely Warnings are notifications required by federal law that go out to the university to alert of a potential or ongoing threat and to disclose information about crime in and around campus.

The report says a sexual assault was reported to the police via an on-line submission on Tuesday.

The warning says the alleged assault happened at an unknown time on Jan. 15 at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity.

The victim, reported to be a student, disclosed to a third party being sexually assaulted by four unidentified fraternity brothers, the warning said.

KDKA also reached out to Penn State's Interfraternity Council for comment but hasn't heard back.

Penn State released a statement, saying:

"State College Police are investigating this reported criminal matter. As Penn State always does when it receives allegations of this nature involving students, the University's Office of Sexual Misconduct Prevention & Response is also investigating. Other appropriate offices have been notified and are involved in contacting fraternity leadership and the national organization for this fraternity to seek more information, as further action is contemplated. Penn State is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all students in our community and takes allegations of sexual misconduct seriously."

A spokesperson for the fraternity released a statement, saying:

"We became aware of these allegations this afternoon and are cooperating fully with the investigations of the University administration and local authorities. Obviously, the alleged incident is absolutely antithetical to our fraternity's ideals and values. We will provide more comment upon the conclusion of the investigations."
