Project Nearing Completion On Penn Ave. In Garfield, Road To Fully Reopen

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- City officials say a lengthy road construction project through the Garfield business district is wrapping up.

According to the mayor's office, the four-block section of Penn Avenue between Evaline and Mathilda streets will fully reopen to two-way traffic by Wednesday morning.

The road work had closed parts of the street since August of 2013.

Officials say work still needs to be completed on sidewalks, traffic signals and street lights, but that will only temporarily impact street parking in the area.

Also, other upgrades and some landscaping will continue through this summer.
