Princesses & Superheroes Cheer Up Kids At Children's Hospital

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A magical evening at Children's Hospital featured "princesses" putting on a show for their parents and families.

The performers, volunteers with a group called Capes4Heroes, didn't hold back. After the show, a group of superheroes took the stage.

Superman and friends brought out a lot of smiles, especially from 13-year-old Alexa, who has been battling a brain tumor for 12 years.

"A day like this makes everybody just a lot happier," said Alexa's mom Monica Delosreyes. "She was having a really bad week and nothing really to look forward to except for a few dinners here at the Ronald McDonald House, which she enjoys, but when they found out about super heroes and princesses, she lit up and she tried to sleep today and kept waking up and saying 'when are we going!'"

Alexa was even able to dress up as a princess herself.

"This has meant the world to us and we appreciate everybody for doing this, its amazing," Delosreyes said.

Other patients, about 150 in all, put on personalized, handmade superhero style capes.
