President Obama Speaking At VFW Convention, Road Closures Expected

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- President Barack Obama will address the 116th Veterans of Foreign Wars National Convention in Pittsburgh today.

There are 12,000 veterans and Ladies Auxiliary delegates in town for the convention, being held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh. Overall, the VFW has nearly 1.9 million members.

The President's visit will close down several streets in Pittsburgh between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Road Closures:

  • 11th Street will be closed from Smallman Street to the 10th Street Bypass/Ft. Duquesne Boulevard
  • 10th Street will be closed between Penn Avenue and Ft. Duquesne Boulevard (except for VFW Convention buses and access to David L. Lawrence Convention Center garage entrance on 10th near Penn Avenue. There will be no through traffic under the convention center.
  • French Street from 10th Street to Garrison Place
  • Garrison Place from French Street to Ft. Duquesne Boulevard
  • Ft. Duquesne Boulevard from 9th Street to the 10th Street Bypass
