PPG Place Ice Rink Finally Opens

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Get ready to lace up your ice skates.

The rink at PPG Place opens for the season on Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m.

Officials say this year's rink is bigger. It's 25 percent larger than the previous rink.

Also, it's 67 percent larger than the rink at Rockefeller Center in New York.

The PPG rink was supposed to open for Light Up Night last Friday, but the weather was too warm and the ice wasn't ready.

On Saturdays in December, the 5, 12 and 19 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., you can Skate with Santa.

Here are their other hours and rates:

Hours Through Jan. 3:
Monday-Thursday - 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Friday & Saturday - 11 a.m. to Midnight
Sunday - Noon to 8 p.m.

Holidays:
Thanksgiving Day - 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Christmas Day: - 11 a.m. to Midnight
New Year's Eve - 11 a.m. to Midnight
New Year's Day - 11 a.m. to Midnight

Rates:
Adults (Ages 13-49): $8
Children (through age 12): $7
Seniors (Ages 50 and up): $7
Skate rentals: $4

The rink will be open through Feb. 28.
