Vehicle Crashes Into Building While Fleeing From Police, 2 Injured

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a vehicle crashed into a building while fleeing from police in Westmoreland County.
Dozens of firefighters surrounded a banged up black Subaru Legacy in an attempt to pull a woman out.
The car came to its final resting spot in front of a building on Constitution Boulevard in New Kensington. However, police said it all started in Arnold around 4:30 a.m.
An Arnold police officer on patrol spotted the car driving without headlights. Police said the officer turned on his lights to stop the car, but the car kept going.
The officer followed, but the car sped away. The Arnold police chief said the officer followed the car at a normal rate of speed because a no pursuit policy is in place.
The car failed to turn left on Walnut Street and crashed into a building. The woman that was trapped in the car and another woman were taken to the hospital.
Their conditions have not been released.
Meanwhile, police said the driver is a black man and he took off on foot headed east on Walnut Street. He has not been identified at this time.
The car was towed from the scene.
