Driver killed in I-79 South crash involving 4 vehicles

SOUTH STRABANE (KDKA) -- A driver is dead after a crash on I-79 South involving four vehicles in Washington County on Wednesday, the coroner said. 

According to the coroner, the driver was traveling south around exit 43 shortly before noon when a vehicle traveling in the northbound lanes lost control, crossed the median and slammed into the victim's car, causing a chain reaction crash involving a total of four vehicles. 

The coroner did not release the identity of the person who died, saying it's pending notification of next of kin. The driver who died was wearing a seatbelt, the coroner said.
