Port Authority Releases New Details About Proposed Bus Fare Changes

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - There are new details on the proposed changes to Port Authority bus fares.

The new plan would do away with the current multi-zone system.

Instead, all riders with a ConnectCard would pay $2.50, no matter where they're going.

A 25-cent surcharge would be added if you pay with cash.

The new policy would also move to a pay-on-enter system, eliminate the free Downtown bus zone and charge riders $2 for a ConnectCard.

If approved, this would begin on Jan. 1.

The Port Authority is now accepting comments on the proposal and two public hearings are scheduled.
