Port Authority Putting Detours, Service Changes In Place For New Year's Holiday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- There will be some New Year's Eve and New Year's Day Port Authority service changes and detours.

On New Year's Eve, service will run on its weekday schedules.

However, officials say more than 20 bus routes are going to be detoured because of First Night celebration road closures.

The detours will go into place around 10 a.m. and run through the rest of the day and night.

If your heading to the New Year's Eve festivities downtown, the Port Authority says kids under 12 can ride for free after 4 p.m. if they're with an adult who is wearing a First Night button.

Then, on New Year's Day, bus and T service will be running on holiday schedules.
