Port Authority Giving Public A Say In Fare System Improvements With "Where To Next" Campaign

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- You can now have a say in how the Port Authority improves its service.

The "Where to Next" campaign runs through the summer and will help the Port Authority come up with ways to simplify and improve its fare system.

The Port Authority will be asking the public to voice their opinions through multiple avenues, including surveys online and at local events, online discussions and public hearings.

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said in a press release: "We want to simplify the fare-payment process for transit riders and we want the community to participate by sharing possible changes that would be most meaningful to them. This will be the first major improvement of our transit fare system in years."

Any proposed changes first have to go through the Port Authority Board of Directors, and then be implemented in phases.
