PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - All inbound and outbound rail cars in Pittsburgh were halted Sunday after rapidly changing weather conditions caused adverse conditions.

According to a tweet posted by the Port Authority, a flash freeze that struck the region Sunday at approximately 4 a.m. immobilized all rail cars.

The Port Authority said that regularly scheduled bus services were not impacted. Officials said they were working to organize shuttle buses to operate in place of the rail cars until crews are able to restore service.

Officials posted an update to Twitter around 8:15 a.m. stating that crews were able to restore service to the Blue Line.

At approximately 9:10 a.m., the Port Authority announced on Twitter that Red Line service had been restored.

All light rail service was restored by noon.
