PITTSBURGH (AP) - A Port Authority of Allegheny County bus has hit a pedestrian in Pittsburgh.

Port Authority spokesman Adam Brandolph says the accident occurred about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday on Fifth Avenue in the area of the University of Pittsburgh campus.

Brandolph says the he victim was "conscious and alert" when taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital nearby. A passenger on the bus also complained about hitting her head and asked for medical treatment.

The names of the pedestrian and the bus driver were not immediately released.

The accident happened on a section of Fifth Avenue that has several lanes of one-way traffic for cars, and a single lane reserved for buses headed in the opposite direction.

It wasn't immediately clear whether the bus driver will be cited or disciplined, or whether the pedestrian will be found at fault.
