Police: Woman High On Meth Kills Husband Mistaken For Intruder

KNOX DALE, Pa. (AP) - Police say a central Pennsylvania woman high from smoking methamphetamine fatally shot her husband after mistaking him for an intruder.

Thirty-one-year-old Trista Zickefoose, of Knox Township, was in the Jefferson County Jail Tuesday on a charge of criminal homicide.

Police say she shot 40-year-old Greg Zickefoose at their duplex apartment about 80 miles northeast of Pittsburgh about 11:40 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the couple had argued after smoking the drug together and that Trista Zickefoose, at some point, heard a noise which she believed to be an intruder.

Grabbing a 9mm pistol she kept under her pillow, she fired a warning shot.

Police say her husband realized what was happening and tried to take the gun from her, but she shot him in the chest

Court records don't list a defense attorney.
