Police Issue Halloween Warning To Parents After Finding Candy Laced With THC

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (KDKA) - Police say they found candy that looked like Nerds Ropes during a recent drug bust, and it was laced with THC.

On Facebook, the Johnstown Police Department said they recently found Nerds Ropes containing THC when they were executing a search warrant in Stoneycreek Township.

The Johnstown Police also just seized 60 pounds of marijuana from Stoneycreek Township.

Police also told parents to be "vigilant" as Halloween approaches.

In a statement, the candy company who makes Nerds, Ferrara Candy Company says:

"We have been made aware of this product, and are working with the relevant authorities. This product is counterfeit and in no way associated with Ferrara Candy Company. We want to reassure consumers that the products they find at major retailers across the country are safe for them to consume."

"Drug laced edibles are packaged like regular candy and may be hard to distinguish from the real candy," the post says.
