Police: Two Pro Cyclists Struck By Vehicle In Springdale

SPRINGDALE (KDKA) -- Two professional cyclists were struck by a vehicle Sunday in Springdale.

Police say it happened around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Pittsburgh Street and Colfax Street.

The car was being driven by an elderly woman.

The vehicle plowed into a group of 5 cyclists. Two sustained face, neck and back injuries and were taken to UPMC St. Margaret hospital and a Pittsburgh-area hospital. Another cyclist received minor injuries.

Police say the driver was attempting to turn left before the cyclists went through the green light, but she ran into them.

The female driver will be cited with a traffic violation.
