Police: Suspected Heroin Found Within Arm's Reach Of Child In Westmoreland Co.

WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) -- Two young adults are facing charges after police found suspected heroin within arm's reach of a child in a New Stanton hotel room Wednesday morning.

State police say they received an anonymous child endangerment/abuse report in relation to the child of 21-year-old Kelcie Burkholder, of Latrobe. Burkholder was staying at a Days Inn in New Stanton with 21-year-old Jarrett Short, of Irwin.

Around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, officials were sent to the hotel room to investigate, and they found Burkholder's child asleep in a bed. In the night stand drawer next to the bed, state police say they found 48 bags of suspected heroin.
