Police: Suspected Bank Robber Found Driving Around With 2-Year-Old Son

VERSAILLES (KDKA) -- The FBI has released surveillance photos of a woman suspected in the robbery of the PNC Bank at the Olympia Park Shopping Center in Versailles.

She is being identified by authorities as Sarah Vercauteren, of Export.

The FBI is assisting Versailles Police. It was, according to police, the second robbery attempt of the day for her.

On Tuesday afternoon, while most people stayed out of the weather, police say she first put a note on the counter at the Olympia Park Subway restaurant demanding all the $20s in the register and claiming to have a gun. She was told the clerk couldn't open the register.

Officials at the bank said she passed a similar note there, claiming to have a gun, and ordered the teller to make no sudden movements. She was given the $20 bills from a teller drawer.

She then left the bank.

McKeesport police spotted the getaway car on O'Neil Boulevard and eventually they caught up with her at a traffic stop at Versailles Avenue and Wilson Street in McKeesport.

Once they caught up with her, they discovered her 2-year-old son in the car.

She's facing charges, including endangering the welfare of children.

Investigators say she left her 2-year-old in the unoccupied vehicle in sub-zero weather conditions to commit robbery.

The criminal complaint says she got away with $320.
