Police Surround Suspect's Home After Uniontown Shooting Injures 1

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) - One person was taken to Uniontown Hospital after being shot at a bar Thursday morning.

According to officials at the scene, the shooting happened at Esther's Tavern on Austin Street just after 11 a.m.

Uniontown Police got involved when they got a call for a man lying in the street having been shot twice.

Collins Avenue and Austin Street were taped off and filled with police cruisers after investigators say 22-year-old Brandon Epps was gunned down.

"It scared me. I jumped up and said, 'God almighty,'" said George Gusman, a witness.

Gusman was sitting on the porch when shots were fired. He said a bunch of young men were talking when one pulled out a gun.

"This is the first time I ever seen something like this," he said.

According to police, 22-year-old Tommy Stargell Jr. is accused in the shooting.

Epps suffered gunshot wounds to the lower back, leg and wrist. He was rushed to Uniontown Hospital, and police say Stargell ran from the scene.

Shortly after the shooting, suspecting Stargell was inside, police surrounded the home at 22 Collins Avenue. But around 3 p.m., police were able to get inside the home. Stargell's clothes were inside, but he wasn't.

There's been no word on the victim's condition. Meanwhile, the search for Stargell continues.
