1 Dead, Multiple Injured After Active Shooter Situation In Hancock Co.

NEW CUMBERLAND, W. Va. (KDKA) -- An active shooter situation just over the Pennsylvania border left one dead and multiple people injured.

CBS affiliate WTRF reported that police surrounded a home in the New Cumberland area, just north of Weirton, after reports of gunshots Wednesday night.

The shooting left one woman dead and the suspect, who WTRF reports is a middle-aged man, was life-flighted to a hospital in Pittsburgh.

The suspect allegedly shot and killed the woman and opened fire on a home in the Red Barn Trailer Court.

Sources say another person was shot, and two people and a dog inside a residence were injured as the gunman continued to fire.

Police say they later found the suspect's vehicle and shot at the driver.

He crashed the car and was then taken to the hospital.

Hancock County Emergency Management said the situation is now under control.
