Police: Student Arrested In Shooting Near Campus; 2 Wounded

EDINBORO, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a student at a state university in northwestern Pennsylvania has been arrested in a shooting a block from campus that injured two other students.

Police in Erie County said the gunfire was reported at 10:20 p.m. Friday at a home in Edinboro.

Sgt. Al Donahue told the Erie Times-News that two men aged 19 and 24 were wounded, one in the thigh and the other in the shoulder. He said a 20-year-old suspect was arrested.

Donahue and Edinboro University spokesman Jeffrey Hileman confirmed that all three men are students at the university, which was placed on lockdown overnight as a safety precaution.

University president Julie Wollman said in a statement Saturday that the suspect had been suspended.

The shooting is the second this academic year near the university.
