Police Seek Suspects In Power Plant Break-Ins

UNION TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Southwest Regional Police and First Energy are asking for help in finding several suspects wanted in connection with two break-ins at a local power plant.

According to police, the incidents happened on Nov. 9 and Dec. 31 at the Mitchell Power Station on Route 837 in Union Township.

In the Nov. 9 incident, police say they are looking for six suspects who broke in and caused damage to the building and equipment.

Police released a surveillance photo of one of the possible suspects.

Then, in the incident last month, police say the suspects stole some copper wire. They cut a chain link fence to get inside.

Police say First Energy is now offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information on the incidents is being asked to contact Southwest Regional Police at 724-929-8484.
