Police Probe Double Fatal Shooting In Knoxville

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are investigating a double fatal shooting Thursday evening in Pittsburgh's Knoxville neighborhood.

According to emergency dispatchers, authorities were first called to the 500-block of Grimes Avenue just after 7:30 p.m.

Two people were found dead in a car near the intersection of Grimes Avenue and Zara Street.

According to Pittsburgh Police, a woman was found in the driver's seat and a man in the front passenger seat. Both were 36-years-old and both sustained gunshot wounds to the head.

Police say they believe the shooting happened inside of the vehicle.

There's no word yet on suspects or what prompted shooting.

The victims have not been identified. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Mayor Bill Peduto has issued this statement following Thursday night's shootings in Knoxville and Bloomfield: "My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of tonight's tragic shootings in our city. I have been in constant contact throughout the evening with Public Safety Director Huss. We have committed all resources toward holding the actors accountable and stopping this cycle of violence that is plaguing our community."
