Police Probe Fatal Homewood Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One person is dead after a shooting in Homewood Thursday night.

The gunfire rang out just before 10:15 p.m. in the 400-block of North Dunfermline Street.

Police say the shooting took place in the street.

We're told the victim is an 18-year-old black male, but so far his identity hasn't been released.

"A passerby saw at first what he thought was a toy or a dummy of some sort and on closer inspection saw that it was a real body and called 911," Sonya Toler, Pittsburgh Public Information Officer, said.

By the time police arrived, the young man from Penn Hills was already dead. Police say the victim was shot three times in his hand, calf and fatally in his head.

Police say one neighbor thinks he may have heard gunshots around 9 p.m., but other than that, the scene provided little detail into who pulled the trigger. They're asking for the public's help.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.
