Police: Pa. Man Assaults Dentist With Tire Iron Over Tooth

ERIE, Pa. (AP) - A northwestern Pennsylvania man must stand trial on charges that he assaulted his dentist with a tire iron after the doctor prescribed antibiotics instead of pulling the man's tooth.

The Erie Times-News reports 29-year-old Philip Kienholz waived his preliminary hearing Thursday on charges including aggravated assault stemming from the Dec. 20 incident.

Erie police say Kienholz was angry at the dentist, and cornered him in a room with a juvenile patient before hitting the dentist in the wrist with the heavy metal object. Police say Kienholz then ran away.

His Erie County public defender did not immediately return a call seeking comment Friday.

Kienholz remained in the county jail unable to post $25,000 bond.
