Police: Man Shot During Attempted Robbery In Pitcairn, 1 Suspect In Custody

PITCAIRN (KDKA) -- Police have one man in custody after a shooting during an alleged attempted robbery Tuesday afternoon in Pitcairn.

The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. and police found the victim in an alley at the back of the 300-block of 2nd Street.

The name of the victim has not been released, but police say the 57-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the back while trying to run away during the robbery attempt.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment where he was last listed in stable condition.

Police say they have taken 21-year-old Devontae Hammonds into custody in connection with the incident. He was arrested not far from the scene.

He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Hammonds is facing charges of aggravated assault, conspiracy, robbery and weapons violations.
