Police: Man Asked To Mow Grass Shoots At Father Instead

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) - Police say a 31-year-old man angry that his father asked him to mow the lawn at their central Pennsylvania home, instead punched the older man in the mouth, then tried to shoot him.

Court records show Thomas Weber, of Logan Township, remained in the Blair County Prison on Tuesday without an attorney. He faces a preliminary hearing Thursday on charges including attempted homicide.

Township police say Weber punched the man in the mouth while calling him a "terrible father" after being asked to mow.

When Weber's dad started mowing the grass himself, police say Weber grabbed a rifle, said he was going to kill his father and fired two shots. Both missed.

Police say Weber's father told his son, "No one should ever be shooting at someone mowing the grass."
