Police Looking For Suspect In Lawrenceville Attempted Luring

LAWRENCEVILLE (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Police are investigating a possible child luring in Lawrenceville.

It happened Thursday night on 38th Street around 9:30 p.m.

The sun had set only about 35 minutes earlier. The victim is an 8-year-old girl.

"According to the information our police officers gathered, the male did approach the young girl on foot and offered her some candy," said Police Spokesperson Sonya Toler.

But this little girl knew better.

"The young girl was wise enough to realize that this was someone she needed to get away from and she did just that and reported what happened to some adult, her parents and they in turn called 911," said Toler.

Other adults who were on 38th Street also witnessed what happened and helped with describing the man.

"He was an Asian male about 5'7", medium build, he was wearing cut-off blue jean shorts and a black leather jacket," said Toler.

He is also described as weighing 150 pounds and is between 30 and 40 years old.

Eyewitnesses believe he was driving a white pickup truck that was parked nearby.
