Police: Teen Accidentally Shot Himself, Gun Recovered In Knoxville

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a teenager suffered a gunshot wound this afternoon in the city's Knoxville section.

It happened in the 300-block of Jacunda Street around 4:30 p.m.

According to Pittsburgh Police, the 14-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the leg. He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital for treatment.

Police at the scene say the suspect may have thrown the gun into a nearby manhole after the shooting.

Police K9 and firefighters were brought in and the gun was eventually recovered.

The teen is in stable condition.
