Police Investigating Possible Connection Between 3 Local Robberies

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating after three area businesses were robbed within a few hours Tuesday.

It began around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect walked in, grabbed some reading glasses, and then demanded cash, that's according to employees of the Family Dollar in Apollo, Armstrong County.

Once at the register, the thief made clear it was a robbery and to hand over the cash. He also said he had a gun. The clerk complied, and the suspect quickly left the store.

The suspect fled the store with about $400.

A few hours later, a suspect matching the same description entered the Family Dollar in Sharpsburg in Allegheny County. He reportedly had a Post-It note that said: "Give me the money, I have a gun."

He got what he wanted and got away.

Finally, around 7 p.m. Tuesday, police believe the same suspect robbed a laundromat in Ross Township.

The man is described as an African American male, clean-shaven, about 5-feet-5-inches tall.

He was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, with either a dark scarf or turtleneck sweater around his throat, dark blue pants and a blue hat.

He may have escaped the scene in a white or silver vehicle missing a hubcap and front light out.

Ross Township Police said they are working to determine if the robbery was connected to the previous two incidents.
