Police Investigating Murder Inside Homewood Bar

HOMEWOOD (KDKA) - Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man inside a Homewood bar Sunday night.

According to police, it happened around 10:30 p.m. inside Cliff's Bar and Grill, near the intersection of North Lange Avenue and Upland Street.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Corey Clark. He was shot with a high-powered weapon.

No one else was hurt, but patrons watched the shooting in horror.

"We do know that there were people inside the bar watching the game. We don't know how many. Several people dispersed at the shooting," Pittsburgh Public Safety Department's Sony Toler said.

Darlene Peoples came outside after it happened and said she knows the victim's family.

"That's my son's best friend," she said. "Now, he [isn't] here, gone in the flesh and it's sad because you don't even know what you shot him for."

Peoples said the shooting brought back memories of her son's murder in 2005, which she says remains unsolved. She thinks senseless violence has become common and accepted.

"When you hear the shooting, you got to go to the scene and make sure you don't see [any] of yours," she said.

Clark was arrested in March in connection to another bar shooting that left one person dead and four others injured.

However, charges were dropped after it was determined that he was inside the bar, but did not fire any shots.

Police said a number of patrons were inside when Clark was shot, but the gunman was wearing some sort of disguise to cover his face.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Pittsburgh Police.
