PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police are looking for two people accused of robbing a man at knifepoint on Mt. Washington. The victim said he was followed by the suspects after withdrawing money from an ATM.

The victim withdrew money from an ATM at Shiloh Street and Virginia Avenue, police said. The alleged robbery happened within about a five-minute walk from there.

Officers said it was around 12:15 a.m. Monday, near Bailey Avenue and Cushman Street when the victim was attacked. Investigators believe two males overpowered on him. The suspects allegedly got away with the victim's phone and wallet.

"I'm always aware of somebody being able to come up behind me. It was a frightening situation. I hope they get him," Linda Schiegg, of Mt. Washington, said.

She said she has never felt unsafe in the area, but makes sure to get money out during daylight.

Officers said that is a smart practice.

"I just always look around and see if there is somebody behind me or walking up that might cause suspicion," Schiegg said.

At nighttime, you should always withdraw money in a well-lit area, police said. Other tips include taking one or more friends with you to the ATM or avoid using it all together. Also, don't take out large amounts of money if you're alone.

"I'm always out during the day. I wouldn't be out after dark by myself," Schiegg said.

Another piece of advice from police is to use a drive-thru ATM for more security.

The two suspects are still on the loose. Officers have not given a description.

Police continue to investigate.
