Police Investigating East Liberty Shooting

EAST LIBERTY (KDKA) -- Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Saturday morning in Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood.

It happened at about 3 a.m. Saturday in the 6500 block of Hamilton Avenue. Four officers on patrol in the area heard shots being fired. As they approached, the shots continued, and a silver Mercedes Benz sped toward them. The officers gave several verbal warnings for the driver to stop, but the driver continued to drive toward them. One officer fired at the driver, but the suspect fled the scene. Police have not been able to locate the driver or the vehicle.

Police say the officers involved were not injured. The officer who fired at the driver will be placed on administrative leave, as per police protocol.
