Police Investigating Deadly Shooting In Jeannette

JEANNETTE (KDKA) - A Pittsburgh man shot and killed overnight in Westmoreland County.

Police were called to South 7th Street, between Clay Avenue and Magee Avenue, around 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

Neighbors say the victim had been visiting friends at the home where he was shot.

Marty Taylor, one of the neighbors where the shooting took place, says he heard several shots late Monday night.

"Last night, there were two different instances where there were shots," he said. "The second one was inside the house because that's when all the police started showing up."

Officers and police cars surrounded South 7th Street.

Neighbors say the victim was shot inside apartment 6. Police identify him as 20-year-old Lamone McCoy of Pittsburgh. He was shot multiple times.

"The apartment they found the young man in... been here may be less than a month. The people who rented that place, I think he was a friend of theirs," said Taylor.

McCoy was rushed to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville where he later died from his injuries.

Jeannette Police and Westmoreland County Detectives are investigating this case. If you saw, heard or know anything, they want you call them.
