2 Men, 1 Woman Stabbed In New Kensington

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) - A woman and two men were all injured after a fight turned violent in Westmoreland County Wednesday night.

According to police, the incident happened outside of an apartment on Fifth Avenue around 10:30 p.m.

"We're not quite sure who the aggressors were," New Kensington Police Chief Tom Klawinski said. "We don't know if this is justified or not."

Chief Klawinski said after doing initial interviewing, detectives believe that this all started after apartment building tenants began fighting.

"The second floor residents and third floor residents of this apartment building had some sort of altercation and disagreement. A fight broke out," Chief Klawinski said.

As the tenants and several others were fighting on the back landings, two men were stabbed in the torso with a kitchen knife.

Both were flown to Pittsburgh hospitals and one of them was in surgery Thursday morning. An 18-year-old woman was also stabbed in the arm.

All of the victims are expected to survive. The woman was treated and released from an area hospital overnight.

Police said they had not been called to the building before for other disputes between the residents involved.

"Actually it's not. It's not anything we've had complaints on in the past," Chief Klawinski said.

As for arrests and charges, police said they still need to finish questioning those involved, including the two injured men.
