Police Investigate Separate Shootings In Manchester, Wilkinsburg

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- One person is dead and another was injured in two separate shootings Friday night, one in the city's Manchester section and the other in Wilkinsburg.

In Manchester, the shots rang out around 9 p.m. in the 1300-block of Columbus Avenue.

Authorities say the victim was found dead inside his car.

"He was standing outside of his vehicle at first," said Pittsburgh Police spokesperson Sonya Toler. "We believe that he was one of two callers who called 911 to report the shooting and he stepped back inside his vehicle, sat down and that is where he is deceased."

Homicide detectives and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office were called to the scene.

Police are looking for a suspect.

"We do have some people who we are questioning. He was in the car with at least three other people, so hopefully, we'll be able to discern some information from what they have to share," added Toler. "The best that we can gather right now is there was one shooter who walked up to the car, fired one shot and kept walking."

In Wilkinsburg, emergency dispatchers say one person was shot in the 1000-block of Wallace Avenue just after 8:30 p.m.

The victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. There's no word on his condition.

Police are investigating both shooting incidents.
