Police Investigating Fatal Shooting In McKeesport

MCKEESPORT (KDKA) - Detectives with Allegheny County Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a man in McKeesport Tuesday night.

According to police, the shooting happened at the intersection of Ninth and Locust Streets around 10 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found Jermaine Oden, 39, of Elizabeth, had been shot multiple times.

Investigators believe Oden got into an argument with another man, which escalated and resulted in shots being fired.

No arrests have been made, but police are asking for the public's help.

"At this point in the investigation, we're asking anybody who heard or saw anything in the area, around 10, 1015 p.m., to call McKeesport Police or the County Police Homicide Unit at (412)-473-1300," said Lt. Andrew Schurman.

It was only days ago that Oden celebrated his 39th birthday. Friends and family posted birthday greetings on his Facebook page. Now, many of those same people are posting "rest in peace."

One person wrote, "We need to stop shooting each other. I just lost a really good friend last night over an argument."

Another wrote, "Why Lord why? On my birthday, my baby first cousin. On my birthday this morning, I [hate to] hear of death."

Police say callers can remain anonymous.
