Police: Homeless Man With Prosthetic Legs Kicked Officer

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) - A homeless man with prosthetic legs has been jailed on charges he kicked one police officer in the head and assaulted another during a disturbance at a central Pennsylvania convenience store.

Logan Township police believe 44-year-old Brian Dick is not a veteran, but claimed to be about 1:20 a.m. Thursday while trying to obtain free food after a Veterans' Day promotion expired at a Sheetz store.

Police say Dick uses titanium legs below the knee in each leg, and lives in the woods near the store, about 90 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Both township officers were treated and released at UPMC Altoona Hospital.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Dick, who remained in the Blair County Jail unable to post $50,000 bond on charges including assaulting law enforcement officers.
