Police File Charges Against 9 Juveniles In Wake Of Kennywood Fight

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Police have filed summary and misdemeanor charges against nine juveniles allegedly involved in a disturbance at Kennywood earlier this month.

According to police, they used park surveillance video, private videos from people who were at the park and video that was posted on social media sites as part of their investigation.

The investigation is ongoing, and police in West Mifflin say there may be additional arrests.

In all, 50 to 75 teenagers who'd been inside all day somehow ended up pushing and shoving each other.

Kennywood security felt it was becoming uncomfortable for others and decided to call in police from West Mifflin and nine other departments.

Because it was close to closing time, Kennywood says it made the decision to close to get everyone out of the park.

Four teenage girls were hurt with minor cuts and scrapes.

In the wake of the disturbance, security changes were put into place.

Among the families and couples taking in the food and attractions, there are many more law enforcement officers.

Some of them are Kennywood's own safety and security personnel department.
