Police: Female Informant Eats Heroin Purchased For Cops

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania woman is jailed on charges that she ate some of the heroin she bought while working as an undercover informant for the police.

The Altoona Mirror says 33-year-old Pamela Laich was working with Altoona police Sunday night when she bought five individual doses of heroin from the target of the investigation.

Police say Laich was instructed to buy five bags for $80, but came back with only three after a long delay. The undercover officer supervising Laich made her go back for two more bags, but police found that the drugs looked odd - and later determined they had been replaced with dry baby cereal.

Police say Laich managed to sneak the drugs she had removed and wrapped in cellophane into a police holding cell, where she ate them.

Court records don't list a defense attorney.
