Police: No threat after report of man with gun at Oxford Athletic Center

Police clear Wexford athletic center after report of man with gun

WEXFORD, Pa. (KDKA) - Police said they're working to figure out what happened after they got a call about a man with a gun in an athletic club in Wexford on Thursday.

Northern Regional police said on Facebook that officers responded to the Oxford Athletic Club "swiftly," cleared the building and determined the suspect was no longer at the scene.

Everyone is safe and no one was hurt. Police later updated the Facebook post with more information, emphasizing that there is no active threat.

"Officers respond with the limited information that is provided, and responded to make sure there was no active threat. It is confirmed via security footage that the actor fled in a vehicle," police said.

They added that they wanted to let residents know so no rumors would be spread. They're still working to figure out what exactly happened.

"In light of current events, our officers responded to make sure our citizens are safe first and foremost," police wrote.
