Police Arrest Suspect In Lawrenceville, Penn Hills Bank Robberies

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Pittsburgh man has been taken into custody in connection with two bank robberies earlier this week in Lawrenceville and Penn Hills.

Pittsburgh Police say they arrested 28-year-old Christopher Wallace of Lincoln-Lemington at a local hospital where he was being treated for injuries that he suffered before the robberies.

During each robbery, officials say the suspect claimed to have a bomb.

The hold-ups happened on Tuesday afternoon, about an hour apart.

The first happened around 1 p.m. at the First Commonwealth Bank in the 5200-block of Butler Street in Lawrenceville. Then, around 2 p.m., the PNC Bank on Rodi Road was robbed.

The suspect was caught on surveillance video at both of the banks.

Wallace is facing charges of robbery and terroristic threats.
