Police Arrest Suspect In Attempted Robbery At Point Marion Family Dollar

POINT MARION (KDKA) -- A man is in police custody following an attempted robbery at a Family Dollar store in Fayette County.

The incident happened at the store on Penn Street in Point Marion just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.

According to State Police, Point Marion residents helped police identify the suspect, 21-year-old Travis Shuppe of Dilliner. He was arrested shortly after the robbery attempt.

Police say Shuppe demanded all the money from the store's cash registers and safe.

No weapon was seen, but authorities say Shuppe had his hand in his coat pocket as though he had a gun.

Shuppe ran from the store when a customer came in. He didn't get away with any money.

Police say there was also a warrant for Shuppe's arrest that had been issued by the Washington County Court of Common Pleas.
