Police Arrest Suspect In 2013 Fayette Co. Home Invasion

GEORGES TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A suspect has been taken into custody more than a year after a violent home invasion left an elderly woman injured in Fayette County.

According to the Herald-Standard, 26-year-old Charles Thomas of Waltersburg is facing robbery, burglary and theft charges in connection with the Dec. 13, 2013 incident.

It happened at a home on Walnut Hill Road in Georges Township.

Police said DNA evidence led to the break in the case, the Herald-Standard reports.

Thomas and another unidentified suspect, according to the Herald-Standard, are accused of cutting the 89-year-old victims' phone lines, taking her life-alert necklace and pointing a gun at her.

They demanded jewelry and money, and reportedly got away with the woman's purse.

The Herald-Standard reports a health care worker finally found the woman and called for help.

Thomas is being held in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bond.
