Pittsburgh Zoo's Baby Gorilla Turns 1-Year-Old

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – You're invited to a birthday celebration.

The baby gorilla at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium turns 1-year-old.

Baby Ivan will celebrate with a special birthday cake and presents.

When he was first born, his mother was unable to nurse.

Staffers and volunteers worked around the clock, caring for him like a mom gorilla, grooming him and even communicated using gorilla sounds.

And you can take part in his birthday celebration. It'll take place Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Gorilla Yard, when he receives his special treat.
